DIY Fall Décor: Simple & Easy Ideas

We love this time of the year, cooler temperatures, our visit to our local pumpkin patch, enjoying a traditional pumpkin spice latte, gathering with family to celebrate Thanksgiving and of course the upcoming arrival of our baby girl! This time of year, is also perfect for adding some simple and inexpensive updates to your home décor.

I’ve said it before and I will say it again – SHOP YOUR HOME and local Dollar Store! Each year, although we may add something new to our Fall Décor collection, we often “use what we have” and may just spruce it up by adding a new décor piece, or some paint to craft items and/or change up the colour scheme.

This year, we picked up some chalk paint at our local craft store and updated our plastic pumpkins.

We have quite a collection of these faux pumpkins and this year, we updated by adding some colour to the faux pumpkins and filled some lanterns with them for our front porch. You could also add them to trays and baskets around your home.

We have tons of SERVING TRAYS that we received as bridal shower gifts. They are not only great to take out when entertaining, but instead of letting them just collect dusts in between in the cupboards and use them in your décor and add some fall décor items!

For our FRONT FOYER TABLE: we used this free printable from last year which you can find in THIS POST.

Picked up some faux harvest vegetables and acorns, along with some chalk-painted pumpkins and faux twigs and wheat into a tray (we had this in our bathroom with tea light candles and rocks – SHOP YOUR HOME) and used some vases and jars from our spring décor with some brown and green accents from items we had in our décor bin.

Throw a blanket scarf over a basket and some faux pumpkins either on a table or in the corner as a feature, which adds some warmth to your fall home décor.

For our KITCHEN TABLE: I just added a battery-operated Birch candle that we use in our Christmas décor, some chalk paint to a mason jar, filled it with some faux wheat, and popped out the stem on the faux pumpkin and added a faux succulent to the top (that we had picked up at the Dollar Store to use as part of our Spring/Summer décor). Place this is on a wooden tray or wooden plank, even a cutting board – and voila, a simple centrepiece with a touch of Fall accents.
