Today on the blog, I am sharing FIVE simple and fun beach themed activities to do at home with your little ones.
WASH SEASHELLS
Whether it is décor shells or shells from a previous beach visit, add them to a bin or water table with a sponge and some soap. Add in some play items like fish!
If doing this activity indoors, on a tray place a bowl, sponge, spray bottle or small pitcher for your little one to fill with water and wash the shell.
You can even wash shells after playing in the sandbox. This is a great activity that combines practical life skills and sensorial play!
PLAY "I SPY"
Whether it is a trip safely to a local lake and/or read beach-related books, watch songs/videos online, talk with your little one about what they may see or have seen at a beach visit. We recently had the opportunity to visit a local beach in our area, from a safe distance and saw lots of sand toys in addition to playing with our own, lake, sand, water, rocks big and small, etc.
Some I SPY object suggestions:
Rocks, sand, beach ball, fish, boat, flip flops, sunglasses, umbrella, bucket, beach ball, lake, beach towel, etc.
PLAY DOUGH & SHELLS:
Make imprints in playdough using different shells.
PAINT/COLOUR/ADD STICKERS TO BEACH THEMED TEMPLATES:
Use watercolours, washable paint, finger paint, q-tips, sponges, stamps, stickers to decorate beach themed cutouts.
SAND & WATER PLAY:
Add beach themed items to your water and sand table and create a mini beach for your favourite toys!
Add some water to a kiddie pool, a beach ball, some rocks or seashells, bucket, play fish, etc.
