When that 10 a.m. and/or 2 p.m. craving comes around and you need a boost, these bites combine just the right amount of protein, fibre and crunch to curb that sweet craving and add some fuel to your day.
They are no-bake (SO SIMPLE to make) and this is a great base recipe to add your favourite ingredients too – the possibilities are endless. We make this recipe once every other week or so and of course we change it up using what we have on hand in the cupboard.
We love using Chipits dark chocolate chips and use them in a lot of our snack recipes – delicious!
Recipe: No Bake Protein Bites
Ingredients:
1 ½ cups of oats
½ cup of Peanut Butter (or almond butter)
About ¼ cup of ground flax seeds
1 tbsp chia seeds
1/3 cup honey
1/3 cup dark chocolate chips
Directions:
Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and mix together.
We will do the recipe as is, or customize add-ins sunflower seeds or pepitas, sometimes even dry cranberries and coconut flakes. The add-in choices are Yours to Define <--- see what I did there, but it’s true!
Cover with plastic wrap and store in fridge for about a half hour. Scoop out with a spoon and form into balls.
Store in an airtight container covered in a piece of parchment paper or wax paper in the fridge for the week.
These bites are delicious – the perfect combo of sweet and crunchy and great protein-filled snack to curb those mid-day cravings, have it with a cup of coffee and/or great after a workout as well or an after dinner snack - especially with a glass of almond milk!
